      AIM

      The aim of this training is to improve performance of law enforcement officers by enhancing awareness of the evolution of cyber-threats and the importance of cooperation in fighting cybercrime.

      OBJECTIVES

      The participants will gain knowledge about:

      • The most important forms of malware and cyber-attacks;
      • The newest types of online fraud;
      • The role of money mules in cybercrime cases;
      • Methods for cooperation in fighting cybercrime.

      TARGET GROUP

      Law enforcement, judicial staff, academia

      LEARNING OUTCOMES

      At the end of the training the participant will be able to:

      • Explain the difference between different forms of malware;
      • Describe the main types of cyber-attacks;
      • Present the evolution of money mules’ networks;
      • Present the “crime as a business model”;
      • Action in case of a cyber-incident.

      Thomas S. DOUGHERTY
      Thomas S. DOUGHERTY is a Senior Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS). In 2015, he was detailed from CCIPS to the DOJ’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial, Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT) to serve in Southeast Asia as the first ever International Computer Hacking and Intellectual Property (ICHIP) Attorney Advisor for Cybercrime.

      Ionuț STOICA
      Ionuț STOICA is Senior Project Officer within the Council of Europe, Cybercrime Programme Office, with an experience of more than 14 years’ experience in cybercrime investigations and trainings. He is currently involved in capacity building programs on cybercrime and he is also a trainer on cybercrime for the Romanian Banking Institute.

      Ioan-Cosmin MIHAI is a researcher, professor, trainer, and conference speaker, with an experience of more than 15 years in cybercrime and cybersecurity. He is associate professor at “Al. I. Cuza” Police Academy, visiting professor at the University Politehnica of Bucharest and “Carol I” National Defence University, Romania, and vice president of the Romanian Association for Information Security Assurance (RAISA).
